Back in December, I started building a small SaaS project. Last week I got to a place where I could start a closed beta (and soon I’ll be launching!). So now my attention has shifted from the technical development to the difficult task of attracting users.
So of course, I’ve been researching a lot of information on marketing and user acquisition. A few I really like are the talks at MicroConf:
I’ve also been playing around with Facebook and Google Ads. A close friend of mine who runs a marketing agency recommended a great strategy: figure out the exact keyword or phrase someone looking for your SaaS would search for and just bid on that. It’s efficient, and if you can’t convert at least one or two people, perhaps it’s time to reassess your landing page or product.
In retrospect, I think that’s a great strategy to validate your idea to begin with. Simply create an informative landing page to collect emails, spend $100-$200 on very specific ads, and see if there is any interest. If not, cut your losses and move on.
New Blog Layout
On a different note, I updated my Blog page to make it clearer and easier to find content by polishing the layout and grouping categories. I also added some snazzy little icons (special thanks to AFileIcon). Check it out and let me know your thoughts:
